1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using ALTDAP, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the platform. Your continued use constitutes acceptance.

2. About ALTDAP

ALTDAP is an educational platform and MSc Final Year Research Project from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO). It is provided free of charge for informational and public health awareness purposes. It is not a commercial service.

3. Eligibility

• ALTDAP is designed exclusively for adolescents aged 12–20
• Independent account registration requires you to be aged 16–20 (Teen or Young Adult)
• Users aged 12–15 (Junior) access the platform through a school institution managed by an authorised administrator
• Adults aged 21 and over are not eligible to register for an account
• By registering, you confirm that you are aged 16–20 and meet the eligibility requirement

4. Medical Disclaimer

All content on ALTDAP — including drug profiles, Challenge questions, self-assessment tools, AI counsellor responses, and forum posts — is for educational purposes only. This platform does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations.

The self-risk assessment (CRAFFT/ASSIST tools) provides general awareness information, not a clinical diagnosis. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for personal medical decisions or if you are concerned about substance use.

5. User Conduct

By using ALTDAP, you agree not to:

• Post content that promotes, glorifies, or provides instructions for drug use or acquisition
• Share contact information for obtaining controlled substances
• Harass, threaten, or abuse other users on the forum
• Attempt to circumvent or exploit the platform’s security measures
• Use the platform for any commercial purpose without written permission
• Impersonate ALTDAP staff, researchers, or healthcare professionals

6. Forum and Community Content

ALTDAP’s peer forum is a moderated community space. User-generated content is reviewed before appearing publicly. We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms, our community guidelines, or applicable Nigerian law. Repeated violations may result in account suspension.

By posting on the forum, you grant ALTDAP a non-exclusive licence to display your content on the platform. You retain ownership of your original content.

7. ALTDAP AI AI Counsellor

ALTDAP AI is an AI-powered peer support guide, not a human counsellor, therapist, or medical professional. Its responses are generated by artificial intelligence and may not always be accurate. Do not rely on ALTDAP AI for emergency situations — call 112 or NDLEA: 0800 1020 3040.

8. Intellectual Property

All platform content — including drug profiles, Challenge questions, assessment tools, educational materials, and the ALTDAP brand — is the intellectual property of the FUTO research team. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute this content without written permission except for personal, non-commercial educational use.

9. Limitation of Liability

ALTDAP and the FUTO research team are not liable for any harm, loss, or damage arising from your use of or reliance on information provided on this platform. The platform is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, without prior notice. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of Nigerian courts.
