ALTDAP (Adolescent and Lifelong Technology for Drug Abuse Prevention) is operated by AltDap Limited, a company incorporated in Nigeria. The platform originated as an MSc Final Year Research Project at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Department of Information Technology; FUTO has confirmed it holds no intellectual property claim over ALTDAP, which was developed independently of FUTO's institutional resources.

Account data (if you register): Your name, email address, and the optional details you provide during registration (age range, role, state in Nigeria). This data is stored securely in our database.
Challenge and assessment data: Your Challenge scores and risk assessment results are stored linked to your account if you are logged in, so you can track your progress. If you use the Awareness Challenge or self-check without an account, no data is stored on our servers.
Self-check results: The risk self-assessment processes all answers entirely in your browser. No answers are sent to or stored on any server. Results are only saved in your current browser tab (sessionStorage) and are deleted when you close it.
ALTDAP AI conversations: Conversations with ALTDAP AI are stored anonymously by session UUID. No personally identifiable information is attached to your chat history unless you choose to share it.
Usage analytics: We use PostHog for anonymised usage analytics (page views, feature usage). No personal identifiers are tracked. You can opt out by using a browser privacy extension.
Recovery Programme data (health data): If you enrol in the ALTDAP 90-Day Recovery Programme, we collect health-related data including your daily check-in responses (mood, craving levels, substance use, sleep, notes), your recovery pathway, risk tier, and milestone progress. This data is classified as sensitive personal data under the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) and is processed only with your explicit consent, obtained at enrolment. If you enrolled through an institution (school, organisation), your assigned counsellors, teachers, and institution admins can view your individual check-in data to provide appropriate support, this is disclosed at the point of consent. You can delete all recovery data at any time from your Recovery Settings page.
During registration, you are asked whether you consent to your anonymised Challenge data being used for drug abuse prevention research conducted personally by Hillary Goodness Ekene. This is entirely optional, you can use ALTDAP fully whether or not you consent. If you consented and wish to withdraw, email us and we will remove your data from the research dataset.
Your data is stored using Supabase, which provides enterprise-grade encryption at rest and in transit. Passwords are never stored in plaintext, authentication is handled by Supabase Auth with industry-standard hashing. We follow security best practices including rate limiting on all API endpoints.
We use strictly necessary session cookies to manage your login state (via Supabase Auth). We do not use advertising cookies or tracking cookies. The only analytics tool we use (PostHog) operates without requiring cookies when configured in cookieless mode.
ALTDAP is built for young people and is open to adults too. Independent account registration is open to users aged 16 and over (Teen, Young Adult and Adult groups). Users aged 12 to 15 (Junior) access the platform through their school institution, where a responsible administrator oversees enrolment.

We keep your personal data for as long as your account remains active. If you have not logged in for 3 years, we will send a reminder email and, if no response is received within 30 days, anonymise your account data, your progress statistics are retained in aggregate form for research purposes but all personally identifying fields (name, email, username) are removed.
You can request immediate deletion of your account and all associated data at any time from your Profile page or by emailing hello@altdap.com.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

AltDap Limited's designated Data Protection Officer is Hillary Goodness Ekene, reachable at hello@altdap.com. The DPO is responsible for overseeing compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act and handling data protection queries, complaints, and rights requests.
Some of the infrastructure providers we use to operate ALTDAP, including our database provider (Supabase), hosting provider (Vercel), and AI provider (Anthropic), process data outside Nigeria. Where this happens, we take reasonable technical and contractual measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest and provider agreements covering data protection. We keep this position under review as our compliance programme develops.
ALTDAP on WhatsApp is built on our three anchors: psychology and social support, health and care (we point you to doctors and never replace treatment), and a faith root that shapes how we care. Everyone is welcome, help never depends on faith, and verses can be turned off with NO SCRIPTURE.
When you use ALTDAP on WhatsApp, we can see your WhatsApp number and the first name your profile shows. Your number is stored only in scrambled (hashed) form.
If you are 16 or over and you say yes, we keep a small profile so we can help you better next time: your age group, whether the conversation is for you or for someone else, your language, and a few choices you make from fixed lists, such as what triggers you, which substance or habit is on your mind, and whether it is about pornography, betting or gaming. We do not keep your name, and we do not keep the messages you type, beyond the short time a conversation is active.
Choices about substance use and mood are health information, and your setting for verses is a reflection of religious belief. We treat both as sensitive personal data and keep them only with your consent. If you are under 16, we keep nothing once the conversation ends.
