ALTDAP is Nigeria's free drug abuse awareness platform, built on MSc research at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO). It provides evidence-based drug education, a gamified awareness challenge, anonymous self-check (based on CRAFFT and ASSIST clinical tools), AI peer support, and 9 evidence-based drug profiles for teenagers aged 12 and up, with space for young adults through age 30.
ALTDAP stands for Adolescent-Led Technology for Drug Abuse Prevention. "Led" is not a claim that teenagers founded or run the platform, it's a design choice: every tool on ALTDAP puts you in charge of your own next step, instead of handing you a warning to read.
"Adolescent" points to the WHO's 10-to-19 framework for how young people actually weigh risk and make decisions, the psychology ALTDAP is built on. ALTDAP starts at age 12, squarely inside that window, and carries the same approach through to age 30, because what works at 12, real agency instead of a lecture, works just as well at 25.
From age 12, the Hot Seat lets you test your own judgement against real scenarios, and Self-Check lets you assess your own risk privately, no account, nothing shared with a school or parent. ALTDAP AI, the private chat where you ask the question you couldn't ask out loud, opens at 16, for anyone younger, ALTDAP points you to a trusted adult instead, and schools can set up ALTDAP Junior so 12 to 15 year olds get the same tools with their institution's support. ALTDAP gives you the information. What you do with it is yours to decide.
