ALTDAP Family Plan
You do not need to be an expert. You need a calm voice, the cards from the guide and the time. Print this page, or read it from your phone.
Say: Thank you for coming. We are here to help each other protect our children. Nobody will be asked to share anything private, and nobody is being judged.
Do: Open in the way your community usually opens a gathering. Agree that what is said in the room is not repeated outside it.
Say: Children hear about drugs from friends, school and phones, whether or not we speak. If they hear it first from someone who loves them and stays calm, they are safer.
Do: Ask: what have you heard children talk about? Let three or four people answer. Do not correct them yet.
Say: You do not need to be an expert. You need one calm sentence. Choose one from the card for your child's age.
Do: In pairs, one person says the sentence, the other answers like a child might. Swap. Then ask: what was hard?
Say: A sign is a reason to ask, not a reason to accuse. And if someone cannot be woken or you fear for their life, take them to the nearest hospital or clinic now, stay with them, and call 112 as a backup.
Do: Read the early signs and the tonight guidance from the card aloud. Make sure everyone knows which hospital or clinic is nearest, and that 112 is the free backup.
Say: Choose one small thing: one calm sentence, one question a day, one adult your child can tell.
Do: Ask each person to say their one thing aloud or to the person beside them. Close in your community's usual way.
Bring the one-page cards for each family, and the full guide for anyone who wants more.
